Last year I celebrated my 18th birthday in style. I was lucky enough that my amazing mother had booked for us to go on a week away to New York. New York is somewhere that I have dreamt of going but never thought I would be able to visit, especially at Christmas… The most wonderful time of the year.
My birthday is the 7th December.. so yes its officially the start of my birthday week… because 1 day really isn’t enough. On my birthday my mum wrapped up little presents all around the theme of new York, including a breakfast at tiffany’s DVD, Some dollars, New York recipe book at first I did not cotton on at all like why is she giving me all of these, it was only when I opened my new York guide and inside was confirmation of the hotel that I clicked, I may have cried a little.
The countdown was on… 10 DAYS!!
We were flying out early doors December 17th, when we arrived it was like a winter wonderland, flurries of snow creating a festive feel. We did all the tourist things you do, visiting all the sights, including; Ground Zero, Wall Street, Central Park and even taking a helicopter tour around to see the statue of liberty. Saks had the most beautiful visual decoration on the front of the store, I was memorised. Christmas markets galore and carol singers all round. We saw a show at the Rockefeller centre, and a camel came on stage.. if that doesn’t scream Christmas I don’t know what will (joking).
I have never felt more festive, New York really know how to celebrate. I would do anything to relive that trip.
Have you ever been?
